NEW YORK, November 9, 2006 – SharedBook Inc. (www.sharedbook.com), a unique collaborative publishing platform, today rolled out data integration capabilities that seamlessly integrate existing content and communities into SharedBook’s application, supporting a rich set of data models. SharedBook’s first integrated partner is Legacy.com, the leading provider of online obituary solutions for the newspaper industry. This distinctive technology being used exclusively by SharedBook makes it an innovator in its field.SharedBook’s new data integration features enable partner sites to seamlessly integrate existing data into SharedBook’s application, where that content can be personalized, annotated, and enhanced to create a contextual, themed book. Said Caroline Vanderlip, SharedBook CEO, “Before now, the consumer had to choose between a flat photobook and a full published product which took weeks to deliver. We now offer the consumer the ability to select from a collection of assets, whether residing on another site, on one’s hard drive, or from friends and family. We are responding to consumer demand for rich, enhanced customized books that tell the story beyond the photo, using a variety of different sources, created easily online. In our partnership with Legacy.com, for example, it allows consumers to create a Commemorative Guest Book that contains the newspaper obituaries, guest book entries from Legacy.com, as well as other contributions provided by the user, creating a lasting way to remember a loved one.”
SharedBook also announced today the expansion of its product line to include the “SportsBook” and “BirthdayBook” MemoryBooks.
SharedBook created the “SportsBooks” for seven of the most popular U.S. sports: soccer, basketball, hockey, football, baseball, triathlon and softball. These books feature cover selection technology that gives consumers the ability to mix and match colors and covers and choose from ten of the most prevalent school and sports colors, so their special SportsBook can be truly representative of their team.
There are also now two “BirthdayBook” templates, one created for a child’s birthday and the other for an adult’s Birthday.
SharedBook has now developed over twenty-five books for life events, such as births, family reunions and vacations. These unique MemoryBooks start at $25 for soft cover, $47 for hard cover books and range from 20 – 200 pages in length. There is a SharedBook MemoryBook for almost every occasion, and even more varieties are being developed and launched every week. For more information about SharedBook, log on to www.SharedBook.com.
