SACRAMENTO, Calif.-"The election on Tuesday, November 7th is one of the most important elections in California's history. In addition to the historic race for governor between Democrat Phil Angelides and incumbent Governor Arnold Schwarzenneger, there are many ballot issues that will have a large impact on Hispanic people in California and throughout the United States," says Mr. Fernandez. Despite recent press reports that nearly half of the state's voters may choose to stay home instead of voting, Mr. Fernandez, a native Sacramentan and local real estate investor, is optimistic that if people are given an opportunity to get to the polls easily and safely that they will indeed vote and will deliver their votes to the candidates who support the hopes and dreams of working people all across our state.
Manny Fernandez believes that fellow Hispanic Americans, "the sleeping giant of California's electorate" and other progressive minded people know that there is a clear difference between Schwarzenneger and people's advocate state treasurer Phil Angelides. "The problem is that many citizens do not believe that their votes count and that they don't have the power to change things," says Fernandez. Every person of Hispanic descent should know, according to the promoter of the innovative free-ride-to-the polls campaign, that now is the time to say "Hasta La Vista!" to Schwarzenneger and replace him with a devoted advocate for working Californians, Phil Angelides. "There are many important issues on this ballot, but the Governor's race is truly the most important," according to Mr. Fernandez.
If you need a ride to the polls, you live in the City of Sacramento, and want to participate in this one-of-a-kind program, contact Yellow Cab directly at 916-444-2222 and mention "Manny Fernandez free ride to vote." Many drivers, including Spanish-speaking drivers, will be available from 7 AM until the polls close at 7 PM.
