Yung Nate and Charles Hamilton LIVE!!!

November 01, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
Already alums of the Bowery Poetry Club monthly Youth Open mic series, they are back to showcase, individually and collectively, their musical gifts in hip-hop, jazz, and … reality.

Yung Nate and Charles Hamilton are the modern-day Felix Ungar and Oscar Madison. Seemingly nothing in common. But the power of music and the durability of life is what make these two the East coast, young response to OutKast.

Yung Nate is a brass-knuckle, hard-line lyricist that takes no prisoners. He is a very vivid MC, with his chilling tales of the gritty street life. He takes any beat and makes one's hairs stand up when his amped voice booms on a track. He's the guy that you will clutch your purse in an elevator when he enters.

Charles Hamilton is the exact opposite. He is a quirky lyricist, who nimbly breezes over the tracks he produces (and is obsessed with the color pink). The tracks are usually sampled, chopping up anything. He will most likely sample your voice in a conversation, put drums over it, and make it head-nodable. Though he is light hearted most of the time, he is a very melancholic poet.

When the two come together, they breeze in and out of each other's worlds with ease. Nate can easily make one giggle on a Charles Hamilton track, while Charles can put his (pink) hoodie on with the best of them.

Although they are two different people, they are the best of friends. Their chemistry radiates through their music. "I'll be in the middle of one of my songs," says Charles, "and Nate will say something hilarious on the side. I'll laugh, and without missing a beat, keep performing. Laughter is contagious, so the crowd will follow."

"I love performing," Nate continues. "I just want the crowd to feel me. I want them to feel me, even if I didn't have a microphone. My music you just gotta feel and be in to."

When it comes to hip-hop, they both are crowd-pleasers. But where Nate can control the crowd behind the mic, Charles' biggest crowd strength is the piano. "As long as I've been playing I've never had a bad experience live. I can't wait to incorporate my musicianship with our hip-hop live show. It's definitely going to add a different edge to the way we do things."
