Inter-Media Launches “Unpolluted Breath” Project”In MOTOR EXPO 2006 GRAND CHARITY NIGHT
Raising Fund in Support of Sustainable Development
Mr. Kwanchai Paphatphong, Chairman of Inter-Media Consultant Co., Ltd. and Organizing Chairman of “THE 23rd THAILAND INTERNATIONAL MOTOR EXPO 2006”, revealed that “Throughout the years, the policy of the Organizing Committee has been to make “THAILAND INTERNATIONAL MOTOR EXPO” play a role in promoting the automotive circle and youth education. Thus the first day of the EXPO open to the public every year has been assigned “Grand Charity Day” with “Grand Charity Night” in the evening to combine the proceeds from ticket sales and donations from car companies for charity purposes. Last year we were reasonably successful in our role as focal point in requesting car companies to donate money for non-profit auto vehicle related organizations, both public and private, including those engaged in promoting youth education”.
We handed over a total amount of 4 million Baht, from the sales of “22nd THAILAND INTERNATIONAL MOTOR EXPO 2005” admission tickets on December 1, 2005 and Gala Dinner tickets for the MOTOR EXPO 2005 GRAND CHARITY NIGHT in the same evening, to 9 educational and auto vehicle related institutes as follows:
1. Thai Junior Encyclopedia Project by Royal Command of H.M. the King.
2. The Royal Automobile Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage.
3. Thailand Automotive Institute.
4. Society of Automotive Engineers - Thailand (TSAE).
5. Thai Auto-Parts Manufacturers Association (TAPMA).
6. Vintage Car Club of Thailand
7. The Union Motors Repairing Association of Thailand.
8. Thai Automotive Journalists Association
9. Don’t Drive Drunk Foundation.
As for this year, Mr. Kwanchai is of the opinion that “Mere money donation in part to organizations cannot build strength and sustainable development in the automotive community. We have therefore initiated “Unpolluted Breath” Project to implement activities with objectives in harmonization with those of the Foundation for a Clean and Transparent Thailand—of which H.E. General Prem Tinsulanonda, President of the Privy Council and Statesman, is Honorary President and Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation, is President”.
Objectives of the “Unpolluted Breath” Project are to cultivate ethical and moral sense in youths and citizens of all walks of life so that they care about public interest and refrain from corruption and malpractice, and also to create a common front in combating corruption and misconduct in Thai
society. We are confident that the “Unpolluted Breath” Project, which will commence in 2007, will play a key role in creating honesty and transparency in all sectors of Thai society as a consequence of better knowledge and understanding and higher moral integrity of the citizens, thus leading to a climate conducive to continuous and sustainable political, economic and social development”.
“Thus “MOTOR EXPO 2006 GRAND CHARITY NIGHT” has been conceived to raise fund for the “Unpolluted Breath” Project, and we hope to get wide support from car companies which form a part of the Thai society,” Mr. Kwanchai said and continued:
“Besides, as 2006 is the year of the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne, in grateful recognition of His Majesty’s talent, is resolved to organize an “Exhibition in honour of His Majesty the King and His talent in alternative energy” in “THE 23rd THAILAND INTERNATIONAL MOTOR EXPO 2006”—to honour the King, publicize His talent, and promote knowledge and understanding of the Royal Development Project on Alternative Fuels.”
The Exhibition will include “The Father of Thai Energy Development” by the Ministry of Energy, examples of agricultural commodities used in making alternative energy such as sugar cane, tapioca, jatropha (or physic nut), etc. with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, examples of engines that have been test run on alternative fuels, with support from the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), and display of Ford Escape and Ford Focus cars that have run on Gasohol under the Royal Development Project.
