Recognized as one of today’s foremost crochet designers, Maggie Weldon designs afghans, home décor, and family fashions for publications, yarn companies, and her own company, Maggie’s Crochet. She has authored over two dozen books.
Maggie was taught to crochet by her fourth-grade teacher and has been crocheting for over 40 years. Her first design attempt was one of necessity. She crocheted a bunting for her three-month-old son, but was dismayed when she couldn’t get it off of him. He began to cry, leaving, Maggie with no alternative but to cut the front seam open. Later, she redesigned a button-up front for the bunting and the creative ideas haven’t stopped since.
Maggie markets her crochet leaflets and kits through her company, Maggie’s Crochet. Her website, MaggiesCrochet.com, serves over 30,000 people worldwide.
Maggie is a native of Michigan. With her husband Nate, and their two children, she moved to North Carolina in 1993. When she’s not designing or otherwise engaged in her favorite craft, Maggie enjoys visiting the scenic Carolina waterfalls, hiking, cooking and traveling.
