Los Angeles, California - October 22, 2006 - Diana Mera’s song “Bésame” from the “dianamera” album was chosen to be part of the soundtrack music for feature independent film 'druthers.'druthers investigates the personal, familial, and cultural baggage that people carry. The co-creators spent months preparing their characters; using detailed imagery of past events which created specific character flaws and detailed relationships to each other.
The music in the film is well suited for every mood in every scene. Every song chosen for its respective scenes really enhanced the movie experience.
“The tone of Diana’s song worked with the scene… plus we love her voice!” said Jenna Bari, co-producer of the film. “In the scene, a woman from Austria comes to the US and meets two men who only speak Spanish, which is meant to show how difficult communication can be. The song comes in the car. It lightens the mood. Diana's voice gives lushness to the scene.”
'druthers is an independent feature, co-conceived by, co-produced by, and co-starring Jenna Bari, Pollyanna Jacobs, Claudia Kindl, and Adam Wilhite.
Diana Mera who is in the process of recording her new album, wrote “Bésame” during the summer of 2002 in Phoenix, Arizona, where she found inspiration to write the songs of her first album.
“When I learned that “Besame” was going to be in this movie, it was a wonderful surprise, I think having one of your songs featured in a movie is a big opportunity to showcase your work. I am delighted, honored and grateful that the ‘druthers team matched me with their creative movie” said Diana Mera.
