SiteCrafting Launches New Library Website
October 18, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Yesterday, SiteCrafting Inc. unveiled a new Website for the Pierce County Library System. The redeveloped site has an all-new look and new address. But even more importantly, the site now has a number of upgraded features allowing it to better serve the public’s needs. The Library worked closely with customers to develop a wish list of the ideal look, feel and functionality of a library Website. Then working with SiteCrafting, the Library made that wish list a reality.
Some of the exciting new features on the redeveloped site include online library card applications, an easily managed events calendar, expanded search capabilities, and more than 90 customizable booklists that assist customers in finding a book they might enjoy. The site also offers more pages in Spanish and Korean languages for non-English speaking patrons.
The site also includes some all-new interactive features, including:
· The Teen Blog where young adults can hang out and have virtual discussions about books, movies, studying, social stuff, and more.
· The Library Foundation Online offers the public a fast and convenient way to offer their donations to help provide library services to under-served and un-served areas of Pierce County.
· The RSS (Really Simple Syndication) lets customers register to receive direct online feeds about library events, services and branch information.
Neel Parikh, director of the Library System said, “We redeveloped the Website for easier customer use and better access to more helpful information about library services. Our customers told us that they want information they can access easily and conveniently. The new look, feel, and layout of information on the Website came from months of gathering input from library customers.”
The Pierce County Library, in Washington State, has 18 branches, and serves more than 200,000 registered customers. The Library’s new Website address is www.piercecountylibrary.org.
