In a town whose community clearly appreciates all types of music, Sports intends to provide an evening for aspiring artists and music aficionados to pay tribute to one of the greatest and purest genres of all time. Working in collaboration with local business' and artists Sports has put together an evening to exceed any music lovers dreams. Kilroys: 319 N. Walnut St. Bloomington IN, 47408; 812.219.4430 http://www.kilroys-bloomington.com Gene Deer, a highly talented and well respected blues artist from Indianapolis, will be the host of Monday Night Blues bringing to the evening a wonderful performance and a high level of blues knowledge. Eventually Deer will cultivate the night into a "Jam Session" where audience participation will be encouraged. Currently Deer is a recording artist on the Slippery Noodle label, where he performs regularly. He has recently finished a tour of the country with the Kenny Brack Band on the Indy Racing League 2004 Tour. To help complete the night, Sports has seeked out quality Bloomington based companies such as Oliver Winery, Upland Brewery, Roadworthy Guitars and many more all of whom are delighted to be a part of Monday Blues. With their help Sports is able to bring to their customers half priced bottles of wine, two dollar pints of Upland beer and five dollar premium martinis.
Kilroy's Sports Bar opened in 1991 and slowly expanded throughout the course of the 1990's adding small live music acts in 1994 and expanded to include the upstairs in 1998. Last year Sports built a stage downstairs to host larger and better bands and just this past winter Sports completely renovated the upstairs bar into a chic lounge and dance club to fulfill the desires of the customers to have a fun and safe atmosphere.
