Houston, Texas — In its ongoing efforts to support the development of its women lawyers—and to show the firm’s appreciation to its corporate clients—the Houston-based law firm of Andrews Kurth will hold its bi-annual Executive Women’s Retreat at the Ritz Carlton in Bachelor Gulch, Colo., on October 19-22. The “Milestones” retreat, which will be attended by approximately 200 women lawyers and clients of the firm, is part of the firm’s Women’s Initiative, aimed at developing and retaining the talents of its female lawyers.
“We want to celebrate what these women have accomplished,” says Kathleen Wu, one of the retreat’s organizers. “The attendees have all reached a high level of professional excellence, and with that level of accomplishment comes added stress and responsibilities. This retreat will not only help them de-stress for a few days, but we will also be discussing some of the issues unique to women at their professional level.”
Among the speakers who will address the group is Dr. Lois Frankel, business coach and bestselling author of “Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office,” Marilyn Tam, former CEO of Aveda and co-founder of Us Foundation, and Erin Gruwell, a revolutionary educator and founder and president of the Erin Gruwell Education Project.
Attendees will also be given the option of taking a cooking class, going fly fishing, taking a river rafting trip, and going on a photo safari, among other options.
The Ritz Carlton at Bachelor Gulch was recently ranked the #3 spa in North America by the 2006 Conde Nast Traveler Reader's Poll. The spa is located 15 minutes from Vail, Colo.
“The women who will be attending this retreat rank among the top executives in the country,” Ms. Wu says. “This will not only give them a chance to network with their peers, but it will give them all a much-needed break from their busy lives.”
