Police suspect members of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club after Benesh had told friends and family that he had been threatened by the club in the past over the fact he was a Hells Angel supporter. In April of 2006, eight members of the Canadian Bandidos chapter were murdered by another Bandidos member from the same chapter.

In June of 2005 Mr. George Wegers, current International President of the Bandidos, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Washington State on Racketeering, Violent Crimes In Aid Of Racketeering, Possessing Stolen Motorcycle Parts, Conspiracy To Murder and Intimidation Of Witness charges. Arrested with more than twenty other Bandidos members (including two chapter Presidents, two National Enforcers, and one National Vice President), Mr. Wegers’ plead guilty to a Conspiracy To Commit Racketeering charge and was sentenced on October 6, 2006, to 20 months in federal prison.
