Boca Raton, FL – A new website, www.freehomeawayfromhome.com , serves as a forum for travelers interested in learning about home exchanging, home exchanging organizations and the issues relevant to finding accommodations at little to no cost through home swapping when they travel. The website, created by the authors of the recently released The Home Exchange Guide (Poyeen Publishing), provides an forum for home exchangers and prospective exchangers to discuss home swapping issues with like minded individuals from the U.S. and abroad. Home exchanging, a time tested concept proven effective by half a million people every year, is discussed in detail in The Home Exchange Guide, a new book, featured in domestic and international media including USA Today, Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal, Midwest Book Review, Newsweek (Japan), and the Vancouver Sun. It is the first how-to home exchange guide with an online focus. In the book, American home exchangers M.T. Simon and T.T. Baker help travelers find home accommodations in the United States and abroad by guiding them through the home exchange process. The website includes forms from the book, lists of online home exchange organizations and information about them, and a new web log section where members (membership is complimentary) may discuss home swapping issues and share information.
Home exchanging, a common practice in the U.S. and abroad for more than 50 years, allows travelers to swap homes with their counterparts in other locations during their vacation or business trip. Every year, an estimated 250,000 home exchanges take place.
“Our goal is to provide a forum for home swapping discussion and exchange through the FreeHomeAwayFromHome website to support the home swapping how-to information we provided in our book The Home Exchange Guide. The Internet has revolutionized home swapping. In the last ten years many travelers have turned to online home exchange organizations to discover home swaps and find exchange partners,” said Baker. “Every year, tens of thousands of travelers take advantage of home exchanges to live like a local and save on accommodation expenses.”
