Antioch University Southern California today announced the appointment of Neal King, Ph.D., as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs of Antioch University Los Angeles.“We are thrilled that Dr. King has joined Antioch University Los Angeles,” said Dr. LucyAnn Geiselman, President of Antioch University Southern California. “Neal is a visionary leader, with tremendous energy and insight into academia. He is wholeheartedly committed to Antioch’s mission of social justice and progressive education, and brings with him an intimate understanding of the University and our core values. The entire Antioch community welcomes him to our campus.”
Dr. King, a veteran academic and administrator, has been with the Antioch University system since 2004. Most recently he served as interim President of the Graduate School and Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs at the Antioch New England Graduate School in Keene, New Hampshire.
The move to Los Angeles was an easy decision for Dr. King, as a former California resident for many years he considers his new post at Antioch University Los Angeles to be a homecoming of sorts. “Antioch University is an institution of conscience and purpose in American Higher Education, one whose mission and core values resonate strongly with my own.”
King continued, “As I join the AULA community, I am honored and delighted to be with colleagues who share a commitment to social justice, academic excellence and making a positive difference in our diverse communities. The "sky is the limit" for AULA's potential to realize the university mission in Southern California; I couldn't be more pleased to be a part of the AULA community.”
Dr. King completed both his Master of Arts and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of California at Berkeley, and received his BA in English from St. Mary’s College of California. Additionally, he has studied at the Ecole de Musique in Nice, France, as well as the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
King also serves in an advisory capacity to three of the six regional accrediting bodies for Higher Education in the United States: the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges (NCA); the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
