Coventry-based ApplianSys, manufacturers and providers of appliance-based technology has won the contract to upgrade Telehouse Europe’s Domain Name Server (DNS) management facility. ApplianSys has sold its DNSBOX300 and DNSBOX100 to the secure data centre and colocation facilities provider to help improve management and maintenance of its DNS information.Telehouse Europe provides customised IT housing and management services from its own secure facilities, primarily for telecommunication and Internet-related companies. Given the business critical nature of the service provided by the company, it cannot afford any downtime to its IP network so a revamp of its existing legacy DNS system was essential.
“As part of an operational tidy up we realised that we needed to overhaul our DNS system. As a crucial component of our network, we needed the assurance that our DNS system works in sync with our server environment and also that downtime would be at a minimum. ApplianSys’ DNSBox is the ideal solution for our needs as it is a ‘plug and play’ device and guarantees maximum security and stability,” commented Paul Kanabahita, Network Manager, Telehouse Europe.
“The simplicity of DNSBox’s user interface makes management of Telehouse Europe’s DNS system less time consuming and complicated. The appliance’s stability and reliability will also help eliminate the risk of DNS failure and network downtime,” said Mike Clark, CEO, ApplianSys.
DNSBOX300 is a hardened device with a secure purpose-built Linux, appliance architecture and an inbuilt firewall. It comes pre-installed with an intuitive administration interface that means there’s no need to install OS and DNS server software or to patch the software for security vulnerabilities. It works seamlessly and securely with the DNSBOX100 – a DNS slave/secondary appliance. The DNSBOX100 is a BIND-based slave, and offers all the benefits of the appliance format, including security, diskless operation and the ApplianSys admin interface. It can operate with any other DNS primary.
