MV Transportation, Inc. began management of the Tulare County Area Transit service Monday with a successful first day of a three-year fixed-route, deviated fixed-route and dial-a-ride contract. MV was awarded the contract in August after the Tulare County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously in favor of the company. MV replaced TransWest Specialities.
Under the terms of the contract, MV is responsible for providing drivers and performing maintenance of the county-owned vehicles. The county also provides radios and fuel. MV had hired a new General Manager to provide contract oversight and a fully-dedicated Maintenance Manager.
The Tulare County Area Transit service represents MVs sixth contract in the southern central valley that includes Fresno, Visalia, Hanford, Dinuba and the City of Tulare.
Based in Fairfield, California, MV is the largest minority and woman-owned privately held transportation management firm in the United States. The company manages and operates more than 140 contracts to provide transit service in 26 states and the District of Columbia. The company employs more than 9,000 transit professionals.
