Card game fanatics and chess lovers can now test their wits and learn new tricks with Chess Challenge and Lucky Dog Poker from ArcaMax Publishing's Games newsletter.

ArcaMax Games ( http://www.arcamax.com/games ), a popular part of the family-friendly publisher's selection of more than 40 "ezines" or e-mail newsletters, offers daily brain teasers, trivia quizzes, and new games to download from the ArcaMax Web site. In addition, subscribers to this free newsletter also receive chess puzzles three times a week and tips from the Lucky Dog Poker column once a week.

"The chess and poker features help give this newsletter and channel the variety ArcaMax gamers enjoy," said Scott Wolf, ArcaMax Publishing CEO. "The chess feature is good for the player looking to sharpen the basic moves needed to win games while the Poker column covers different types of strategies for all levels."

The Chess Challenge ( http://www.arcamax.com/chess ), by Chess Journalist of the Year and award-winning US Chess Federation columnist Pete Tamburro, presents readers with a puzzle: given a chess board in play (and occasionally a hint), they must figure out the quickest way to checkmate the other player. Many of these puzzles are derived from older puzzles dating as far back as the 1800s, offering a challenge for even the most skilled player.

Journalist and poker champ Russ Scott's weekly column Lucky Dog Poker ( http://www.arcamax.com/luckydogpoker/ ) answers reader questions on tactics, trivia, and more. Past topics have included how to avoid giving "tells" to your opponents, obscure rules, and how to improve your game consistently over time. Supplemented with real-life examples and Scott's personal stories, the column is a fun and informative guide for the beginner or the seasoned player.

"Our Games susbcribers are looking for a challenge in addition to fun games and puzzles," Wolf says of the readers of ArcaMax's free ezine. "They love our daily brain teasers, crossword, and sudoku. This is one more way to get them thinking and bring them the fun and entertainment they've come to associate with ArcaMax."

In addition to the Games ezine, ArcaMax also offers comics such as "Garfield" and "Family Circus," free classic books available by e-mail, breaking news and sports headlines, and more. For more information or to subscribe, visit http://www.arcamax.com/cgi-bin/reg/ .
