A new book on TrixBox, the popular open source software that allows users to quickly set up a voice over IP phone system, has been announced today by Packt Publishing. Written by Kerry Garrison and Barrie Dempster, TrixBox Made Easy is ideal for any user looking to set up a telephony system for individual or small business usage.TrixBox is a telephone system based on the popular open source Asterisk PBX (Private Branch eXchange) Software. TrixBox allows an individual or organization to setup a telephone system with traditional telephone networks as well as Internet based telephony or VoIP.
With over 250,000 global installations to date, the buzz around Asterisk doesn’t seem to be going away. "Asterisk is growing at a phenomenal rate" agrees author of TrixBox Made Easy Kerry Garrison, "and projects like TrixBox make it easy to get an Asterisk system up and running."
Although TrixBox is relatively easy to install and setup there is a lot of information to comprehend before deploying a production system. With a background in deploying systems and a regular speaker at conferences such as Astricon, Garrison is perfectly positioned to give something back to the community by writing the book.
TrixBox Made Easy is the first book written on what was formally known as the Asterisk@Home project. The book covers all of the basics of getting a TrixBox system up and running and then delves into some of the mysteries of dial plans, advanced configurations, and more complicated setup modules.
"I have been involved with the Asterisk@Home/TrixBox project since the very first release" reveals Garrison. "As a seasoned IT person, technology doesn’t often impress me, but Asterisk is one of the most exciting things I have worked with in almost a decade. Asterisk's impact is going to be almost as revolutionary to business as email was," he concludes.
TrixBox Made Easy is published by Packt and is out in October. For more information, please visit http://www.packtpub.com/trix_box/book
