Boston, MA – Capturing America's continuing fascination with the 80s, Intellinitiative Game Co., Inc. and Viacom's VH1 Television Network have renewed a distribution deal with Target, making the retail giant the exclusive national outlet for the VH1 I Love the 80s Board Game this holiday season. The game, created by Intellinitiative and based on VH1’s hit series, I Love The 80s, is now available for purchase at the 1,300+ Target stores nationwide, and online at Target.com.
Clay Siegert, President of Intellinitiative, said, “Working with such tremendously successful leaders in the entertainment and retail industries, we are assured that all of the fond and funny pop culture memories of the 80s will be available to consumers to be enjoyed in a high quality, interactive, and social party game.”
The I Love the 80s Board Game ($24.99) has arrived during a retro renaissance for the decade of “hair bands,” The Brat Pack, yuppies and “Valley Girl” slang. Playing the game, opponents are challenged with singing, drawing, acting and answering trivia from five different categories: Rad TV, Dope Movies, Wicked Music, Ill Sports and For Real Dude Events.
The I Love The 80s Board Game contains 1,500 totally awesome trivia questions and challenges, including pop culture content featured on the three installments of the VH1: I Love The 80s (2002), I Love The 80s: Strikes Back (2003) and I Love The 80s: 3D (2005).
Nigel Cox-Hagan, Senior Vice President, Creative and Consumer Marketing, VH1, said, “The I Love the 80s Game is an interactive extension of this phenomenon, allowing all of those 80s lovers to indulge their fascination with the decade that continues to dazzle us all.”
The game follows the hilarious spontaneity of the VH1 series by inviting players to quote classic movies, sing song lyrics, imitate TV characters, or draw the distinctive fads and fashions from the 80s – all while moving game pieces around the retro game board and trying to earn 10 “Year Tokens,” one for each year, to win the game. In addition, the “Do The Robot” cards add unexpected game changing twists, such as “You win a break-dancing battle. Roll again!” or “Your acid-wash jeans go out of style. Lose your turn.” The I Love the 80s Board Game is for four or more players ages 15 and up.
