Attorney Jalesia McQueen of Gallop, Johnson & Neuman Recruited for U.S. Senate Leadership Summit for Young Professionals

St. Louis, MO … Jalesia F. “Jasha” McQueen, a Peruvian-American attorney who specializes in immigration law at the law firm of Gallop, Johnson & Neuman, participated in the U.S. Senate Leadership Summit for Young Professionals in Washington D.C., an invitation-only conference for addressing economic growth, healthcare, immigration and other topical U.S. policy issues.

The two-day conference provided a forum for meeting with senior members of the U.S. Congress and public policy experts including Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, Senate Majority Leader William Frist (R-Tennessee), Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-Texas), and John C. Goodman, CEO of the National Center for Policy Analysis, among others.

Ms. McQueen, age 34, is an associate in Gallop, Johnson & Neuman’s Governmental Law Department who deals with clients in areas of immigration and governmental affairs. She also is experienced in areas of commercial litigation, product liability, biotechnology, environmental law and international law. U.S. Senator James Talent (R-Missouri) nominated Ms. McQueen to attend the Senate Leadership Summit for Young Professionals, which occurred September 19-20 and was co-sponsored by The Public Forum Institute (www.publicforuminstitute.org).

Fluent in Spanish, Ms. McQueen is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois and she is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for Eastern Missouri. Before graduating cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law, she served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Ms. McQueen also earned a M.S. degree in Human Resource Management from Troy State University and a B.A. in Communications magna cum laude from the University of Tampa.

Earlier this year, Ms. McQueen was appointed to serve as a member of the Missouri Hispanic Business, Trade and Culture Commission created by Missouri Governor Matt Blunt. The Commission advises the Missouri Department of Economic Development Office of International Trade and Investment on issues important to Missouri’s Hispanic community.

Also, she serves as secretary of the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority of St. Louis County (LCRA), a division of the St. Louis County Economic Council, as appointed by County Executive Charlie Dooley. LCRA was established to eliminate and prevent blight in St. Louis County.

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson, who chaired the summit, said, “Bringing together young leaders and our federal officials for an open discussion and exchange of ideas is vital to our nation’s continuing efforts to address issues affecting our families, communities and nation.”

Ms. McQueen is a graduate of “Leadership Clayton,” a nine-month program administered by the Clayton Chamber of Commerce to inform and nurture young leaders. She is a member of The Missouri Bar, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
