TORRANCE, CALIF.—In advance of the busy fall season, Anchor Audio, Inc., the industry leader in portable public address systems for over 25 years, announces the recent addition of personnel to facilitate lean manufacturing and improve operations that better serve the company’s customer base.

September brings promotions to valued employees who have contributed to the growth and lean manufacturing process at Anchor’s Torrance, California factory. Alicia Garibay was promoted from customer service manager to Director of Manufacturing. She will report to Janet Jacobs, Chief Operating Officer. Alicia has been with the company for six years and understands lean business management. Alicia Garibay said, “I am proud to have this opportunity. Together with Tony Morgan, Director of Quality Control, I am confident that production will run smoothly and keep up with sales growth.”

One of Ms. Garibay’s first personnel changes was the promotion of three leads on the factory floor for improved communication between the manufacturing personnel and herself. Promoted were Beatrice Almado, PC Line; Maricela Avalos, Final Assembly; and Cecilia Morales, Sub-Assembly. “Within lean manufacturing, a manager must listen to every one of the employees. These three ladies will deliver the message,” adds Ms. Garibay.

“Ricardo Vega has been promoted to the Customer Service Supervisor position which is a well deserved recognition of his capabilities,” states Devan Cress, V.P. of Sales. “We will miss Alicia in customer service, but we know she is contributing to the delivery of product to our thousands of dealers.”

During the past six months Anchor Audio has installed surface mount equipment and also met RoHS compliance specifications while keeping up with the demanding sales of products across the board — from the line array Beacon portable sound system to the patent pending PortaCom Pro wireless intercom system. Tony Morgan, Director of Quality Control, says, “We have all been working with Alicia to organize daily build based on sales demand. It will be great to have her experience on the manufacturing side of the company.”

Each portable sound system is built for users with no technical knowledge. Anchor’s portable public address systems are battery or AC powered and capable of covering crowds up to 5,000 — indoor or out. These versatile portable public address systems can be used for giving speeches in auditoriums, making sports announcements in gyms, giving instructions to the marching band on the athletic field, or putting on a play in a small theater.

The company's wireless intercom system, PortaCom Pro, offers new dimensions in wireless communications and portable public address systems. This user-friendly product is ideal for industrial applications of all types, ranging from security to maintenance, emergency crews and supervisors on a production line.

Anchor Audio manufactures its portable public address systems and intercom systems using a “total quality” concept. Products are backed by a six-year warranty, the longest in the industry. Through strict controls on its in-house speaker manufacturing, six quality control tests on 100% of products, and maintenance of a large inventory for immediate shipment, Anchor Audio has earned its reputation for quality among a loyal customer base including: the U.S. military, the White House, the FBI, numerous police departments, and thousands of schools and universities.
