Irvine, CA — The world of sailcloth travel and gear bags is about to get a new and exciting addition when True Wind shows its premiere line, The Signals Collection™, at the United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Maryland, from October 5-9, 2006. Designed to be not only durable and functional, True Wind bags feature a distinctly nautical appearance that is certain to appeal to both the sophisticated sailor and non-sailor alike.

True Wind bags are made exclusively with Dacron® sailcloth that has been custom-woven in Ireland by Hood Sailmakers©, a world leader in sailcloth manufacturing technology and sail design. This is the same high-performance sailcloth used to power some of the largest and most prestigious racing and cruising yachts in the world, and has been tested to perform in the harshest of marine environments. Unlike other companies that use recycled or generic sailcloth in their bags, True Wind makes its bags only with new, brand-name cloth. By choosing to use new sailcloth, True Wind can meet the most discriminating standards and ensure the highest quality control over the color, weave and finish of its cloth.

The Signals Collection™, the name for which hails from the design pattern featured on one side of the bag replicating a maritime signal flag, features three styles. Each style is available in two sizes and in up to eight color combinations: a Square Duffel Bag, a Tote Bag and a Sailor Bag. Authentic nautical accents, including zigzag stitching—the traditional stitch used in sail making— and nautical rope zipper pulls, combined with solid brass hardware, marine-grade webbing, self-repairing zippers and durable, water repellant nylon fabrics are what set these bags apart. Not only stylish, The Signals Collection™ bags are also practical and functional in their design with easy main openings, roomy interiors, plenty of pockets, reinforced bottoms, and are easy to carry with fully adjustable/detachable shoulder straps. Although made with imported components, True Wind takes great pride in announcing that each bag is individually handcrafted here in the United States.

True Wind was founded by sister and brother Meredith Marquis and Roger Marquis, who grew up on Long Island, New York, spending their summers enjoying the ocean and the sport of sailing. Both having worked in the corporate world in advertising and marketing respectively, they wanted a venture of their own. Discriminating in their own tastes, they sought a product that spoke to their love of sailing with a sense of nautical style, was unique and yet durable and functional. With keen eyes for quality, they seek to improve upon the sailcloth bags they have found in the marketplace and believe they have achieved that with this first of many collections to come.
