Live Christian Music in a Local Coffee House

The Treehouse Coffee Shop was founded in May of 2002 by a group of friends who had a vision to provide a sanctuary from the negative, stress filled society we live in. The heart of this sanctuary would be the continuation of an event which had brought them all together. It was Christian Open Mic Night at The Living Room, a coffee house establishment. Over the course of about 1 year, the group dwindled, but the dream remained alive, and in the spring of 2003, The Treehouse Coffee Shop opened its doors to run 7 days a week as the neighborhood coffee shop. What has set it apart from other coffee houses in the area is the faith upon which it was opened. Unlike typical Christian coffee shops, this shop is not affiliated with a church and is open over 120 hours a week to people from all walks of life. Unlike other independent coffee shops, the finances to start-up the small business and the labor needed to prepare for its grand opening were provided through steadfast faithfulness.

During most of the week, The Treehouse Coffee Shop functions as would any small coffee shop. The owners and staff work side by side preparing lattes, sandwiches and baked goods for the clientele rich with regulars. Then on Sunday nights, songs filled with praise to God fill the air of the small shop and the aroma of joy and hope entwine with that of the coffee. Believers and nonbelievers of all ages gather and sing to the familiar tunes. When the mic opens up, people share stories of their walks of life, music, poetry and scripture. In between, friends are able to fellowship in an environment free from vulgarity and negativity. They can share how God is working in their lives without the fear of offending someone. It’s a gift from God.

The Treehouse Coffee Shop Christian Open Mic is a unique experience. It is a place and a time to meet other believers, and share how God is alive in our world today. Christian Open Mic runs every Sunday Night at The Treehouse Coffee Shop from 7 – 10PM. Musicians, poets, those with prayer requests can sign up upon arrival.
