With humble beginnings in 2003 as a weekly Hip Hop battle night in Londons Mean Fiddler venue, JumpOff.TV has evolved into a leading global Hip Hop Sports Entertainment Brand featuring news, gossip and a number of video formats ranging from Hip Hop Battles to interviews, documentaries and live coverage of major events. A now iconic youth brand, jumpoff.tv has formed many successful partnerships to take the message further afield including a media partnership with National Youth Entertainment brand – Kiss 100.
Its most successful format has been the extreme sport styled World Rap Championships; a tag team professional rap battle league, set over a 10 week regular season, across two divisions in London and New York, with the $10,000 Playoff Finals in Las Vegas. Using Brightcove’s Internet TV Service to broadcast its videos online, JumpOff.TV has amassed over 200,000 unique visitors and 1million page impressions per month.
The BT DMAs are decided by public votes. The other four nominees for ‘Best Event or Performance Site’ are: Radio 1’s Big Weekend, The Download Festival, PLAY Orchestra and The Proms. Last years winner was the ‘Live 8 Concert’ site. The ceremony is to be held on 3rd October at Camden’s historic Roundhouse Theatre and will be broadcast on Channel 4.
Last year over half a million voters logged on to the official website and made their vote count. The awards are supported by the BPI, the UK’s record trade association, the Official UK Charts Company, Phonographic Performance Ltd, The Mobile Entertainment Forum and the Association of Independent Music - a non-profit trade organisation for independent record companies and distributors in the UK.
