What do you do when you develop a set of mystery symptoms that perplexes even your team of doctors? Or what if the more than dozen specialists you’ve seen tell you “It’s all in your head”? You do what millions of others do worldwide—and tap into the growing network of health-related websites and discussion groups found online today. With thousands of sites to turn to, all with overlapping resources, this can be quite an overwhelming predicament. Enter Planet Thrive, a new grassroots health community offering a positive healing space for those on a more conscious path.
Offering invaluable and unique tools - like Anonymous Health Profiles, where members search a database of personal profiles listing symptoms, diagnoses, treatments, and effectiveness, and Sustainable Storefronts, encouraging member-owned home businesses that put the health of the planet, wildlife and people ahead of profits - Planet Thrive catalogues global health resources and personal experience while also providing space for personal connection and expression with fun features like ThriveMates - a social connection service - personal healing blogs, and a gallery of artwork reflecting the experience of chronic illness.
With close to 50 features catering to mind, body and spirit, the site is vibrant and fun to explore with new nooks and crannies to discover each time you visit. In less than 2 months and with very little marketing, the membership has grown quickly and visitors to the site are raving:
This is a terrific site—a virtual community for those who too often live in isolation. Bravo! - Andy Abrahams Wilson, producer/director, Under Our Skin: The Untold Story of Lyme Disease; founder, Open Eye Pictures
This is probably the most beautiful and thought out website I have ever seen. – serendipity, member of PlanetThrive.com
Planet Thrive is the brainchild of Julie Genser, a 40-year old former Manhattanite with a background in holistic health who experienced an unfortunate series of toxic environmental exposures, setting off a cascade of symptoms in her late 20s and 30s that left her unable to work by late 2004. The most debilitating symptoms included extensive chemical sensitivities that forced her into near isolation over the past 2 years. All that free time got her thinking. She decided to channel her frustration and feelings of helplessness into a worthwhile cause: creating a place where people in similar situations around the world could support each other, learn from each other’s experiences, and organize their collective resources to effect positive change in the world. Planet Thrive was born.
An uplifting, happy place, Planet Thrive’s mission is to connect, inform, and support people globally who are struggling to reverse the damaging health effects of an increasingly toxic world. Their membership includes those recovering from Lyme Disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Chemical Sensitivity and other chronic illnesses of an environmental origin, as well as holistic health practitioners, healers, activists, and others interested in living a sustainable, healthy lifestyle. Visit PlanetThrive.com today to explore this fun and informative healing community for yourself!
