Project Leadership Associates, Inc. (PLA),continues to meet the demands of the legal industry and corporate counsel by offering a series of Computer Forensics Training Sessions in Chicago. The free training sessions hosted by PLA are Computer Forensics 101, Introduction to Internet Email Analysis and Forensics Email Acquisition and Analysis.
All three sessions are designed for attorneys, corporate counsel, paralegals and litigation support personnel from both law firms and corporate legal departments.
Computer Forensics 101 – During this session we will discuss the basic strategies and protocol behind a computer forensic investigation. We will help you better understand how to prepare, what to look for and what questions to ask at the start of an investigation. This session is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27 and Thursday, October 26.
Introduction to Internet Email Analysis – In this session you will learn the basics of tracking Internet based email. We will examine several scenarios and illustrate the kind of information that can be extracted from common emails. Examples will include web based email, SPAM, as well Nigerian 419 scams. You will find out just how much information can be gleaned from examining Internet based Email such as AOL, MSN, Yahoo and Gmail, as these 3rd party email providers often give people a false sense of anonymity. This session is scheduled for Thursday, October 12.
Forensic Email Acquisition & Analysis – This session outlines the steps required to perform an acquisition of e-mail from various sources such as servers, backups and users’ personal mailboxes. Additionally, we will cover the basic techniques that may be utilized from keyword searches to filtering, opposing counsel review and production. This session is scheduled for Thursday, November 9.
With computer crimes on the rise, companies are becoming more aware of intellectual property risk and exposure to litigation. Investigations against trade secret theft, fraud and employment issues are increasingly becoming electronic issues. The need for computer forensics is growing in all areas of litigation including personal injury, intellectual property, contract disputes, matrimony, spam, fax blast and more.
