A Utah company is trying to make a difference in the community. On August 26, 2006 Orbit Medical and the Utah Food Bank combined efforts on a Senior Service Day. The purpose of this event was to help local senior citizens with tasks that are difficult for them to perform, including house duties, yard work, and delivering food boxes. The event was a great success with around 50 volunteers that helped 9 senior families with yard work and delivered food boxes to 28 homes. The Senior Service Day was planned and organized by two organizations that are largely involved in senior citizens lives. Orbit Medical is one of the leading providers of electric wheelchairs, in-home oxygen systems and sleep therapy products in the United States. Orbit Medical is a qualified Medicare provider and strives to help seniors regain their independence. The Utah Food Bank is a charitable organization that works to gather and distribute food to individuals and families that experience the pain of hunger in Utah.
These companies really made a big difference for many people through their service. Pulling weeds, mowing lawns, trimming bushes, moving furniture and other tasks were happily performed to assist those in need. One elderly recipient said that her yard has never looked better and she really wanted to give her sincere appreciation to the service providers.
An Orbit Medical representative commented, “We think helping out in the community is a good way to let seniors know that we are out there for them, and are more than just a business. We want to play an active role in their communities.” Seniors deserve a chance to stay in their homes after all they’ve done for our communities, which is the goal of Orbit Medical and the Utah Food Bank.
This was a great opportunity to give back to the community and to help seniors improve their current situation. It was a huge success and there were many great experiences and grateful seniors. For more information about Orbit Medical please visit http://www.orbitmedical.com.
