A research study is being conducted at Advanced Magnetic Research Institute to find out if the magnetic energy supplied by the experimental device known as the Magnetic Molecular Energizer (MME) will be the new procedure those people are hoping for.

The non-invasive, experimental procedure provided by the (MME) therapy for diabetic neuropathy is available only at the Advanced Magnetic Research Institute (AMRI) at its million-dollar facility in Sterling Heights.

AMRI of Michigan, headed up by five experienced physicians, is conducting the Institutional Review Board (IRB) monitored study to determine whether MME can relieve the symptoms of diabetic neuropathy (pain and numbing of the toes), a disorder for which there is no known cure.

Study participants not only receive the MME procedure for free but are also are paid $800 or $1,000 to participate in the 120-hour program. Participants who sign up for daytime treatment will receive $1,000 and those who spend the night at the institute will be paid $800.

A random, double blind-draw determines which participants receive the active procedure and which ones receive a placebo procedure. The participants, doctors or staff will not know who receives the active procedure and who will not. The participants who received the placebo procedure can opt later to receive the real procedure for free.

All study participants will be tested initially to determine the degree of pain and numbness in their feet. The degree of pain and numbness will be tested again at the end of the 120-hours and in six months to determine whether the pain and numbness has changed over time.

The MME is a device with two strong electromagnets that apply a continuous Direct Current (DC) magnetic field to the body during the non invasive procedure. During the procedure, the person simply lies in a bed and sleeps, reads or watches TV while up to 5,000 gauss of magnetic energy passes through the body.

AMRI-MI is now screening study applicants. Anyone with implanted battery operated medical devices such as a pacemaker or anyone with non-surgically placed metal will not be accepted. The MME is considered by the FDA to have no significant risk. To register call AMRI-MI at 586-254-7711.
