Manufacturing Company Discovers New Options with ERP Software

“We’ve been using our ERP, SMARTer Manager, since 1999,” said Sonya Hayward, comptroller of the Cassville, Missouri-based company that designs, manufactures and installs canopy systems for the gas station and convenience store industry. “And we didn’t want to change.”SMe Software, owner of SMARTer Manager, even provided them on-site training to set up the new process in their system.
“SMARTer Manager can manage a different process for one client, while not affecting the operations for existing clients,” said Ramona Grissom, CEO of SMe. “For this new client, Arning needed exact inventory control and job costing. They needed the ability to release and reserve inventory out of sequence, without affecting other jobs on the shop floor. And they
needed flexibility at several entry points: order entry, purchasing, and shipping, along with the consideration of inventory of their master assemblies in the BOM module,” explained Grissom.
“We’re using the SMARTer Data Collection Stations to track the labor, so we can make sure everything is priced right,” adds Hayward. “It’s easy to say on the front-end that it will cost us this much in fabrication labor,” but by using the scheduling module of SMARTer Manager, “it gives us real numbers to go back and re-price the product, so our profit margin is in-line.”
“By configuring SMARTer Manager’s automatic business processes SMARTer Manager met all their needs, and reduced the time, man hours and cost of the old process,” said Grissom.
