HMS SOFTWARE RELEASES TIMECONTROL VERSION 4.6

August 28, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Montreal August 28, 2006. HMS Software, a leading provider of project management and enterprise timesheet solutions, has begun shipping TimeControl version 4.6. This latest release of one of the world’s most popular timesheet programs has an impressive list of new features.

“We’re thrilled about the release of TimeControl 4.6,” said Stephen Eyton-Jones, Director of Technical Services for HMS Software. “The product has been enhanced based on both the requests of our large user community and on some of our own research and development.”

The latest version of TimeControl includes enhancements in several areas including:

Timesheet Entry
The timesheet entry has been enhanced with a new feature called Start/Stop. This feature will allow users to enter the start and end times of each day. For users who’s government compliance rules dictate that they must identify not only the hours spent per day but also the time that they started and stopped work, this will be ideal. Also, with the new feature, TimeControl can now support automatic validation rules that key to the total hours that an employee was present at work. TimeControl’s extensive link functionality will allow data from security or access systems to be moved directly into the TimeControl database.

Expenses
The changes in expenses are extensive. They include a new entry dialog, calculated fields, additional fields in the left hand grid and new customization features. This will make entering expenses much easier to both view and understand. The calculation function will also make creating a completed expense report very fast. The flexibility for which TimeControl is already known has been extended to the Expenses system and administrators can now customize the expense fields and pop-up data.

Table control
We’ve added new controls to control who can change the drop down links and who can change the table structure but much more importantly, we’ve also added imposed filter control for the first time. This is a significant improvement in TimeControl. With an automatic filter for the table views, administrators can now, for the first time, give access to table functionality and ensure that end users cannot see the data in that table that they are not privileged to. For example, a team leader might now be able to see all fields in the Rate Table, but only for those employees under their control.

Other improvements
There are numerous other improvements in this version of TimeControl including enhanced links for both Primavera and Microsoft Project, enhanced performance in large deployments, new features for restoring defaults for views and much, much more.

This version of TimeControl represents the last update planned for the 4th edition of the product.

“We’ve got some great new things planned for TimeControl in the coming months,” explains Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS. “Near the end of this year we’ll be releasing TimeControl Industrial™, a version of TimeControl which is designed to serve both white collar employees and those who are working in industrial positions for whom time is entered by someone else. Then, in January 2007, we’ll be releasing TimeControl 5, a whole new generation of TimeControl with an updated interface and a range of changes that will move us forward to a new generation of users.”

Pricing for TimeControl varies according to volume - from $50 to $160 per license.

TimeControl 4.6 is available for shipment immediately. Clients with a current support and maintenance contract are able to download the new update from the TimeControl support website at www.timecontrol.com/support.
