ATLANTA – Rising Atlanta rockers Ocean Street to launch debut CD Sept. 16 at Andrews Upstairs in Buckhead.

The disc will feature 13 catchy but artistically vibrant songs described as a “melodic collision of Southern soul and songwriter rock” by Nashville writer Skip Anderson. The songs have been featured on Atlanta’s Dave FM, Athens 102.1 FM, and more than 30 podcasts in the United States and Great Britain.

“Ocean Street is a rock band with a cool sound, a lively crowd, and a killer live show,” said club owner Jack Hudnall.

Why 13 songs? That was front man Andy Kropf’s jersey number for much of his professional baseball career. “We had a lot of songs to pare down to one disc, but wanted some symbolism too,” said Kropf, who was a catcher and infielder in the Detroit Tigers organization for four years. “Plus, every band needs a lucky number.”

Already a college and club favorite throughout the Southeast, Ocean Street is reaching out to a broader audience with the simultaneous launch of the band’s first full-length LP as well as a video for its debut single, “Till I’m Gone,” a rare move for an indie.

“This band will be played on radio all over the world and at every prom in the country. Every song sounds like a single,” according to podcast guru C.C. Chapman, host of “Accident Hash.”
