PRO-CURE Wristbands for Stem Cell Research Awareness

Pro-Cure Wristbands are visual reminders that many Americans, like scientists, believe stem cell research may hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of diseases and injuries such as Parkinson’s Disease, Diabetes, MS, Cancer, Alzheimer’s, spinal cord injuries and more.

In the US, a great deal of the breakthrough medical research is funded through government grants. Combining these medical breakthroughs with that of private, for-profit research, medical advances of enormous value to mankind are discovered. Scientists and their research have accomplished wondrous feats for humanity. Scientific research has virtually eliminated diseases such as Polio, eliminated or controlled many communicable diseases, extended the life expectancy of humans, and generally improved the quality of life on earth. Scientific research using stem cells appears to have the potential for enormous strides in the care of human lives, but the fact still remains that the research is far from providing therapeutic products. Without equitable public funding for stem cell research, its vast promising potential to do great things for good people gets unfortunately hindered.

Newsweek editor Jonathan Alter posted a blog on the Huffington Post on June 3, 2005, which is titled “Who’ll Build the ‘Pro-Cure’ Stem Cell Movement?” In the blog he wrote “…There are scientific organizations and a few other groups that have successfully lobbied California and New Jersey for state-sponsored research. But we all know that funding from a few states will not be enough to keep us competitive globally and to save lives. The only way the votes will be there in the next Congress to override President Bush’s veto is if a ‘Pro-Cure’ movement kicks the ‘anti-cures’ out of Congress in 2006.”

The debate involving stem cell research is coming down to people being pro-cure or anti-cure. As discussions continue to increase in the media and in households across America, people can give hope to millions of Americans suffering from dreadful medical conditions by wearing the Pro-Cure Wristband.
