Deserving Divas’ are getting away but leaving their hearts and profits in Montreal

MONTREAL – Tuesday, August 24, 2006 – Deserving Divas, Montreal’s premiere
girls-night-out and getaway planners, will be heading off to New York City this fall but leaving their hearts and profits in Montreal as all profits from this escape will be donated to the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.

Over 30 women will be joining the Deserving Divas organization for their 2nd annual trip to spread their wings and getaway to the city that never sleeps. From October 12th to the 15th, 2006, mothers, daughters, girlfriends and new friends are giving themselves permission to take some time for themselves. “It’s not easy for many of these women who are leaving their families for the first time. They are recognizing that unless they take time to nurture the women within, they cannot be the wives, mother, sisters and friends they want to be,” said Lisa McKenzie, founder of Deserving Divas. “It’s a beautiful thing to see some of these women blossom, make new friends and discover themselves.”

Prior to the October 12th, 2006 departure evening, Deserving Divas organizes 2 mingles to allow the women, affectionately called NYC Divas, to introduce themselves and begin bonding. The goal of these gatherings, prior to the trip, is to create the feeling of sisterhood. “Stepping onto the bus bound for NYC, after sharing evenings of mingling, story telling and even belly dancing is very exciting” said Lisa McKenzie “and this sisterhood feeling is one of the highlights of the weekend getaway” The fact that we are fortunate enough to take this trip also allows us to give back and remember the women who may need our help and depend on the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation to make a difference in their lives. “Statistics reveal 1 out of 9 women will experience breast cancer in her lifetime”, said McKenzie” "We don't ever want to take our freedom or health for granted, so when we head out to NYC to spoil ourselves a bit, we want to know we are sharing the joy with others in more difficult circumstances."

The 2nd annual Divas getaway to New York City will be leaving Montreal on Thursday October 12th and returning on Sunday October 15th, 2006.
