MAINE GUBERNATORIAL FORUM WILL ADDRESS ENVIRONMENTAL AND ENERGY ISSUES

Portland, ME – The Environmental & Energy Technology Council of Maine (E2 Tech) will be hosting a Gubernatorial Forum that will address environmental and energy issues and feature the major candidates running for Maine Governor this fall. The event will be held Thursday, September 14th from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Hannaford Lecture Hall in the Abromson Community Education Center on the Portland campus of the University of Southern Maine.Candidates participating in the Forum will include Governor John Baldacci, Democrat; Chandler Woodcock, Republican; Pat LaMarche, Green Party; and Barbara Merrill, Independent. The candidates will answer questions and participate in discussion regarding energy, environmental technology, natural resources and small business issues.
“We feel that environmental and energy issues will help drive the Maine economy over the next 20 years,” said Norman Gridley of Acadia Environmental Technology, who serves as chair of the E2 Tech Board of Directors. “These issues are central to this year’s election and we’re fortunate to have the Forum event early in the fall campaign season.”
The event sponsors are the Bernstein Shur law firm and the University of Southern Maine. The Forum moderator will be Jeffrey A. Thaler, chair of Bernstein Shur’s Environmental and Natural Resources Practice Group. Mr. Thaler is also a member of the E2 Tech Council’s board of directors. The cost is $10 for E2 Tech members and students, and $20 for non-members. A continental breakfast will be served. Payment can be made at the door the day of the event.
E2 Tech is an association of private companies, government agencies, educational institutions and non-profit organizations seeking to advance jobs and research and development in the environmental and energy technology sector of the Maine economy.
