Building my dream house

Most people are driven by their dreams. At a certain point in our lives everyone has a dream which he or she want to see accomplished. Some goals are easy to attain others are more difficult because of various problems that stand in the way. For the 27-year old computer scientist Tarik Menbhi his live long dream would be to build his dream house in his home town. Even though he has a well paid job, prices of land in his home town are too high in comparison of what he earns. Lending money from a bank wouldn’t even pay for a nice piece of land. Current land value have increased so much the last decade that it is not in proportion anymore with average paying jobs. On the other hand companies are aggressively buying houses and land to profit from the current favourable market prices by selling new homes on the properties they acquire.
So what to do when you see your dream is fading away? You turn to the Internet and look for inspiration and suddenly you find an answer: pixel advertising.
Pixel advertising is the term given to visual advertisements on the web which have their cost calculated depending on the number of pixels which they occupy.
For the moment pixel advertising is something that is being exploited. But the websites that exist who sell pixels often do not have a purpose besides earning money. In my eyes only the founder, Alex Tew, has had a dream which he wanted to accomplish, until now.
Tarik Menbhi’s goal is to build his dream house. To do so, means he has to buy a piece of land before he can start building. To buy a piece of land means he has to collect money in order to pay for it. Via pixel advertising he is trying to acquire the necessary fund to make his dream come true.
Depending on the power of the web he is hoping that his dream may come true. His project website can be found at http://www.buildingmydreamhouse.com, it includes a blog where he writes down his progress. So go and have a look at that site and maybe lend this man a helping hand.
