Singer/Songwriter Lucinda makes her Las Vegas debut during the First Fridays music series, November 3, 2006 from 5:00 PM to midnight on the Range Rover stage at Colorado and Freemont Streets. According to the event web site, “Since it began in October of 2002, First Friday has only continued to grow. It is now considered the premier arts event in Las Vegas…you can always expect a diverse crowd, cool local art, live music, street performances and plenty of surprises!”
No one is more surprised then Lucinda at the success of her recent gigs at a most unusual venue. Lucinda and her musical partner Michael Connolly are regulars at Groovy’s at the Chef’s Table, the home of fine eats and funky beats, in Fairfield, CT, where they play to over 100 customers a day who are hungry for sandwiches and songs.
“They have a huge entrance that opens up onto the sidewalk and an artist is usually painting at an easel outside,” explains Lucinda. “We always attract attention and those who come for lunch end up staying for their whole lunch hour.”
“It is really awesome,” she enthuses. “We have repeat customers and always make new fans.”
Lucinda’s upcoming dates at Groovy’s include September 12 and September 26.
Despite heading to fabulous Las Vegas, Lucinda says she’s not trying to out-diva the likes of Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, or Janet Jackson. Instead, she hopes to capture the hearts and ears of a sophisticated adult audience that is into Shawn Colvin, Carly Simon, Bonnie Raitt, and Sheryl Crow.
Lucinda’s new CD Aquamarine will be released this fall. Details of the launch party, scheduled for October, will be announced soon.
Out of all her accomplishments, Lucinda is most excited about her work with LIFEbeat’s Hearts and Voices program. According to the organization’s website, “Lifebeat’s Hearts and Voices program brings the gift of live music to thousands of people living with AIDS at facilities throughout New York City including hospitals, hospices, residential facilities, and treatment centers. Every week, talented musicians from all musical genres volunteer their time to play shows for the most appreciative of audiences…Celebrity performers who have participated include Destiny's Child, LL Cool J, Edwin McCain, Jewel, Ethan Hawke, City High, John Secada, and Floetry, among others.”
