MIT Ambulatory Care Centers approved as only authorized local infusion center for recently released Multiple Sclerosis drug Tysabri ®

(SAVANNAH) – MIT Ambulatory Care Center of Savannah has been approved as the only authorized infusion center for the administration of Tysabri ® in the Savannah area. MIT Ambulatory Care offices of Vidalia, Brunswick and Augusta have also been authorized for Tysabri ® administration. Tysabri ® is a prescription drug approved for patients with relapsing forms of Multiple Sclerosis. Tysabri ® delays and reduces the frequencies of Multiple Sclerosis episodes. Multiple Sclerosis symptoms include blurred vision and eye pain as well as muscle weakness and numbness.

Patients interested in Tysabri ® should contact their physician, who can start the enrollment process. MIT Ambulatory Care Center staff has undergone training for Tysabri ® administration, said Donna Amyx, R.N., clinical director of MIT Ambulatory Care Center.
