Next Generation Weblog - More than the sum of its parts

Singapore – FrenSync.com has launched the beta version of their new weblog sharing website. The free service seeks to provide an alternative to traditional blogs as a medium of expression. “The explosion of digital technology has empowered us to capture, edit and create content. Yet, we felt there is a gap in the ability to combine and string together information from various sources into a coherent entity. We found existing Blogs unsuitable to handle this need” explains founder Muthukumar Ramanathan, an avid, self-taught programmer. “FrenSync is built to fill the gap”. The start-up provides an extensive range of tools to engage in creating and communicating with online communities within and beyond FrenSync. “There has been tremendous growth in social networking websites and online communities catering to different groups. Hence, we provide an open and inclusive platform for our frens (users) to exchange information freely instead of restricting them to the confines of FrenSync”.

Create

FrenSync is built around the concept of ilog or Integrative Weblog. “FrenSync Post reflects our vision of Integrative Weblog which provides frens a simple interface to link up various types of information without getting their hands into any messy code, html or whatsoever. Frens can mix different types of information including text, hyperlinks, videos, maps at the click of a button.” Another interesting feature is the videos and photos uploaded into Youtube and Flickr are integrated into FrenSync Post. “The web 2.0 phenomenon has unleashed new applications that enable digital content to be stored and shared easily. FrenSync taps on this wave that allows users to not only create rich posts at FrenSync but also utilize opportunities in leading applications such as Youtube and Flickr”.

Collaborate

FrenSync’s MessageBox feature allows users to send messages within FrenSync and share reviews and comments. FrenSync users use WishBank to tap on the posts of each other. “In the spirit of collaboration, WishBank allows frens to save each other’s posts and edit them. This enables frens to give their perspectives on common post topics building up a strong bond within the FrenSync community”.

Communicate

Being a new start-up with a strong desire to improve the weblog of today, FrenSync actively seeks to involve its users at every stage of development. “Input from frens we collect through the Fren Portal is critical as we seek to engage in dynamic partnerships to build the next generation weblog. We want frens to shape the future weblog that all of us can benefit from” adds Muthukumar Ramanathan.
