Over the years, Twinkle has built a cult following amongst knitters, fashion lovers and sophisticated shoppers who appreciate unconventional takes on the craft. Wenlan’s signature chunky knit designs and patterns are standouts in the ever-expanding world of knitting. For years, clients and fans had been asking for Twinkle Yarn, particularly in chunky weights. As her popularity continues to grow and the world of Twinkle flourishes, Wenlan felt the timing was perfect to launch Twinkle Yarn. In conjunction with the introduction of Twinkle Yarn, February 2007 will mark the publication of Wenlan’s first book, Twinkle Big City Knits, featuring thirty-one original Twinkle patterns. The majority of these designs are made exclusively with Twinkle Yarn. Wenlan explains, “Over the years, we have received an overwhelming number of requests for Twinkle Yarn. With my first book being published next year and knitting becoming more and more fashionable, the Twinkle Yarn launch seemed inevitable!”
Soft Chunky yarn will be light in weight and supple to touch. Its spin was developed to make chunky sweaters look less bulky and give them a cashmere-like softness. Unique colors – which include urchin, powder, peacock green, lavender, sapphire, sea foam and canary - add a sophisticated element to the crafty Soft Chunky yarns. The skeins are suitable for a modern overcoat, tight sweater or cropped cardigan. Cruise, a silk and cotton blended DK yarn, slips perfectly into luxury knitting for resort. The fourteen colors, such as mauve, tea rose, dew, champagne, parrot green and periwinkle, give knitters an advantage when creating items such as a garden party scarf or cool cardigan. Kids Mohair appears in extraordinary shades such as icy blue, coral, dusty rose and silvery lavender. This luxurious, delicate and versatile yarn is for advanced knitters who understand how to create accessories.
Wenlan founded Twinkle after her handmade chunky knit sweaters caught the eye of stylish New Yorkers on the street as she strode to classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her ability to combine advanced knitting with fashion forward ideas made the craft hot again. Originally trained in the arts, Wenlan draws all of her own patterns for both her home and fashion collections. Young Hollywood has loved Wenlan’s arty ingénue look, with trend-setting admirers such as Mischa Barton, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kate Hudson and Scarlett Johanssen. In 2000, Wenlan rounded out her knitwear with a complete ready-to-wear collection that comes to life on the New York fashion runways, conjuring a world of fantasy, charm and make-believe. In 2004, Wenlan expanded to a sought-after accessory line. For press inquries, please contact Mohamed Alladin of Company Agenda Public Relations at 212-358-9516
