DALLAS—The Aisles of Smiles program allows North Texans to support a vibrant nonprofit by doing what they always do. Grocery shopping. From August 3 to September 9, Aisles of Smiles grocery stores mark particular items with “Jerry’s kids” logos. When these items are purchased, a portion of the cost is donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
“It’s an easy way to help, just buy the products you use,” said 15-year-old MDA client Matthew Swinton of Southlake. “Who doesn’t go grocery shopping once a week? Just buying one little item will help.”
Albertsons, Brookshire’s, Carnival, Kroger, Minyard, Tom Thumb, Sack ’n Save and United Supermarket will be participating in Aisles of Smiles this year—for a total of more than 500 grocery stores. This is great news for the over 3,000 families that MDA serves in North Texas.
In Texas, MDA offers four summer camps, over 20 support groups and clinics, and more than $1 million in research grants to respected medical institutions and universities, including the UT Southwestern Medical Center.
