Buy Local Buy NOLA attracts 100th New Orleans Business and 3000 Visitors in "Recovery Through Revenue" Using Only Bumper Stickers and Word of Mouth

Two New Orleans area business owners searching for ways to help the local economy post-Katrina had an idea: an Online Directory devoted to making sure dollars spent in the Greater New Orleans area stay with local New Orleans businesses.

With a few hundred bumper stickers and a lot of determination Michael Sauviac, of LBS Insurance Services in Kenner LA, and David Scheuermann, of Payroll Rx in Metairie LA, were on a mission.

That mission is paying off for the Greater New Orleans Business community.

Launched in April of 2006, Buy Local Buy NOLA (http://www.buylocalbuynola.org) attracted more than 3000 unique visitors in June, and is on track to exceed 3000 visitors for the month of July.

Buy Local Buy NOLA is a non-profit directory where any Greater New Orleans business from Plaquemines to St Tammany Parish and beyond may register their business for free, allowing viewers of the site to easily find their contact information as well as a direct link to their web site and email. Tile and Banner advertising is available for purchase and all proceeds go back into the site for maintenance and marketing.

In February, Will Scott, of Search Influence in Mandeville LA, joined Michael and David and the race was on. Will brought the technical and search engine marketing expertise the team needed to make the dream a reality. From concept to execution, buylocalbuynola.org came to life in under 6 weeks.
