Gettin' Buggie with Spring Break Camps

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK- Spring break camps will be swarming with fun! City Arts Center and Oklahoma Children's Theatre will offer art, theatre, magic and Teen Drawing camps that delve into the world of "Bodacious Bugs' during this year's Spring Break Camps.' All camps are from 9am – 4pm during the week of March 15-19, 2004 and cost $140 per child. Before/Aftercare available 8-9am and 4:15 – 6pm ($5per day) NO AFTER CARE ON FRIDAY! Friday afternoon all the participants will display or perform their new work for parents and family. City Arts Center and Oklahoma Children's Theatre are located at State Fair Park, 3000 General Pershing Blvd. For more information call 951.0000. From beautiful butterflies to crawling caterpillars, art campers will use a variety of mediums to create original artworks. Campers will paint, draw, collage and sculpt their ways to an exhibit opening showcasing their new works.
THEATRE CAMPS (5-12 years old)
Theatre campers will write, costume, design & perform their stories about "bugs,' delving into character and plot development, sentence structure and play analysis. Don't worry about this camp giving your child a case of the nerves…its improv, which translates to fun on stage!
TEEN DRAWING WORKSHOP (13- 15 years old)
Explore cartooning and comic illustration and see how simple line drawings become characters and cartoons. Using the fundamentals of line, value, shape, color and overlapping, teens learn to improve their drawing skills.
Spring Break Camps are sponsored in part by: Allied Arts, Classical KCSC 90.1FM, Kirkpatrick Family Fund, Mattison Avenue Publishing Corp., Oklahoma Arts Council and Oklahoma's News Channel 4. Through the state appropriations and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Oklahoma Arts Council funds over 1,200 events annually with an estimated total attendance of over 3.5 million.
