Togo's Surf Art Van Tour Brings Renowned Art Work of Drew Brophy to West Coast Beachgoers Togo’s Also Introduces A Masterpiece of Its Own: The New Bocana Beef Sandwich

(San Jose, CA) August, 2006 – Togo’s, a leading West coast fast casual brand — is returning to its roots in surf culture with the introduction of the Togo’s Surf Art Tour. The tour features the works of world-renowned artist Drew Brophy, whose surreal and lively artwork has added a new dimension to surf culture. The Tour coincides with the introduction of the new the Bocana Beef sandwich, named after a famous estuary surf break near San Jose Del Cabo in Mexico. The Togo’s Bocana Beef sandwich is filled with generous helpings of roast beef, chunky avocado red onions and spring mix.

Surf art enthusiasts will have the perfect chance to see the Brophy's work — and sample the delicious new Bocana Beef sandwich. With a Volkswagen Vanagon outfitted with Brophy’s work, the surf art tour will stop at beaches and sporting events up and down the California coast giving beachgoers a chance to see Drew Brophy’s artwork up close, and to try Togo’s new Bocana Beef sandwich. Brophy’s original works of art appear on surfboards, t-shirts greeting cards, beach towels, fabrics, tattoos, skim boards and skateboards. Brophy is a prolific artist who averages 100 new pieces each year, and whose custom-painted surfboards are coveted by celebrities, musicians and art collectors worldwide. Additionally, beachgoers can even test out a surfboard by shaper Barry Vandermeulen.

The Surf Art Tour is part of Togo’s return to its roots in the sand. Started in San Jose, California, in the late 60’s, Togo’s has grown to 283 locations and has stayed true to the concept’s core focus on freshly prepared, wholesome sandwiches with generous portions.
