Cool Golf Cart Ideas for Hot Days

If you are one of the many people using a golf cart to get around, you may avoid getting out in especially hot days. Everyone has limits, but some precautions—and a few fun accessories—can make it a little safer and much more comfortable to get around your farm, business, golf course or neighborhood.“It’s important for people to use caution—protect themselves with sunscreen, plenty of fluids, shade and try to catch a breeze, or even create one,” said Bart Mahan, CEO of Buggies Unlimited. “That’s why we’re pleased to offer an array of products that really can make a difference.”
Mahan knows a thing or two about golf and golf cart gear. He’s the founder of Buggies Unlimited, the world’s largest retail supplier of golf cart gear, which offers products primarily through its website, www.buggiesunlimited.com, and catalogs.
“This time of year, our orders for golf cart fans really take off—from the $19.99 economy 12-volt fan up to the deluxe 48V System, which is an electric heavy-duty fan,” Mahan said. “It puts out over 300 cubic feet of air per minute, delivering a refreshing breeze to both passengers.”
But, in seriously hot weather, nothing beats an air conditioner. Buggies Unlimited markets the Cool Breeze Air Conditioner, which will cool the air up to 25 degrees. It’s the only water-cooled unit in the world that mounts on top of the cart.
Beverage coolers are not new to most golfers, but a new assortment of specially-made golf cart coolers put refreshing water or other ice cold liquids within easy reach in a sweater basket, at the steering column, or even on the very front of the cart.
”We found a space for a cooler in a whole new place—right on the front of the cart,” said Mahan. The nylon cooler bag attaches with buckled straps to any golf cart.
In addition to a golf cart cover, Mahan said there’s another alternative for keeping cool, but he won’t go on the record recommending it as a solution to the heat index.
“I do know some golf cart owners who create their own breezes with the help of our speed enhancing electric motors that can get up to 30 miles per hour,” he said. “But that’s discouraged for most golf courses and neighborhoods!”
Buggies Unlimited was one of the first companies to offer an array of golf cart gear direct to the consumer. The “Do It Yourself” market has taken off, propelling Buggies Unlimited’s sales numbers. And, in many cases, customers say it’s the service aspect that keeps them coming back to the company’s website.
“We don’t want our customers to break a sweat when they install the gear they buy from us. So we encourage them to give us a call or email if they have questions. We have three golf cart experts on staff who are available to assist customers with what particular version of an item they need to order for their brand/model golf cart, where it goes and how to make sure it’s right,” Mahan said.
