Netezza Performance Server® Data Warehouse Appliance Achieves “Certified for SAP NetWeaver®” Qualification
August 02, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Netezza, the global data warehouse appliance leader, today announced that its Netezza Performance Server (NPS®) system has achieved “Certified for SAP NetWeaver®” status. This certified connectivity with the SAP NetWeaver 2004 platform leverages the NPS system’s standard JDBC driver and the Universal Data Connect interface capabilities of SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (SAP NetWeaver BI).By enabling transparent access between SAP NetWeaver and the NPS system, this certified integration allows customers to query the data contained in Netezza’s data warehouse appliance through the same front-end SAP NetWeaver BI tools and application infrastructure they use today. This lets customers run complete business intelligence analyses within the SAP NetWeaver BI environment by seamlessly combining data distributed across SAP NetWeaver BI and the NPS system. In addition, customers can also leverage the unique price/performance benefits that Netezza offers to store and quickly analyze deep, detailed historical data sets for effective analysis.
“The SAP NetWeaver platform delivers a valuable business intelligence infrastructure,” said Richard Winter, president of WinterCorp, an independent consulting firm that specializes in large-scale data warehousing. “Combining the performance benefits of the Netezza Performance Server system with the existing strengths of the SAP platform promises that customers can add to their BI capabilities and gain a significant competitive advantage in the data-driven economy.”
“Our certification with SAP NetWeaver means the SAP user community can now leverage the Netezza data warehouse appliance to improve BI operations,” said Jit Saxena, CEO and co-founder at Netezza. “We remain committed to delivering seamless integration with leading third-party applications to ensure that our customers worldwide can easily benefit from the power of the NPS system.”
The Netezza Performance Server system is the market-leading data warehouse appliance, built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data 10 to 100 times faster than existing data warehouse options, at half the cost. The NPS system stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit, analyzing only the relevant information for each query. Netezza has placed the CPU power next to the data, allowing the NPS system to speed through processes that would occupy most data warehouse systems for hours, or even days, thereby enabling dramatic increases in productivity across the organization. Customers who have recognized the performance benefits of Netezza’s approach include Ahold, Amazon.com, Cingular Wireless, CNET Networks, Debenhams, Epsilon, Orange UK, Premier, Inc., Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation, The Carphone Warehouse and The TJX Companies.
