Just The Funny to present The 5th Annual South Florida Improv Jam

Miami, FL: The 5th Annual South Florida Improv Jam , hosted this year by the Miami improv troupe Just The Funny, will be held on Saturday, August 19th at 9:00pm and will feature improv troupes from throughout South Florida including: Child’s Play, Gated Community, Impromedy, Just the Funny, Name Change Pending, Mod 27, They improv, and Under Construction.
The event is being held at the Miami Museum of Science and Planetarium, in the Museum Theatre on Saturday, August 19th at 9:00pm. Tickets are $12 and may be purchased (cash only) at the Theatre Box Office on the day of the event only. Tickets are first come-first served and are sure to sell fast, audience members are encouraged to show up early.

This year marks the 5th time that various improv troupes in our region have come together to perform in an effort to celebrate an art form that has become a staple in South Florida while assisting local charities.

This year the event’s proceeds will benefit Children’s Home Society of South Florida®. The Children’s Home Society’s (CHS) mission is “Embracing Children, Inspiring Lives.” As the state’s oldest non-profit provider of services to children and families, CHS has long served South Florida by delivering high quality community-based solutions to meet the needs of individuals, families, and communities. Its diverse and talented group of professionals – counselors, social workers, court liaisons, etc. – is committed to the highest standards of quality in its programs and operations. They provide leadership in the development of research-based, solutions-driven programs for children and their families. Statewide, CHS serves more than 50,000 children and 48,000 adults each year. Over the years, more than 30,000 children have been permanently adopted through CHS. Each month locally, an average of 2,500 children and families receive services from their programs. CHS encourages creative, visionary ideas from our staff, volunteers, and our community as part of our continued flexibility in responding to new demands.

It thrills me that when we started this event we only had a handful of troupes involved, some of which don’t exist anymore, and now we have 9 solid improv troupes and a thriving improv community here in South Florida.”
