SAVANNAH, GA – Buy Local Savannah is pleased to welcome “Hollywood Ron” Higgins of Savannah Movie Tours as guest speaker at their August Business Lecture Series. Guests will learn how this filmmaker and assistant to the stars turned his love of the movie business into a profitable Savannah hospitality enterprise. Higgins will also share his knowledge of Savannah’s Hollywood history and discuss why so many filmmakers love to use Savannah as their inspiration.

“Hollywood Ron,” as he is known throughout Savannah, began cultivating his love of the movie industry as a young child after his cousins were cast as extras in the famed mini series Roots. When his sister appeared in Solomon Northup Odyssey, he cut school in order to get a behind-the-scenes look into movie magic, cementing his career.

“Hollywood Ron” began as a production assistant and worked his way up to personal assistant to such stars as Greg Kinnear and Denzel Washington. He started Savannah Movie Tours three years ago and just launched his latest creation, the Scary Movie Tour, which is the only tour of it's kind in the world. "The purpose for creating the movie tour was to simply allow people to get closer to the characters they connected with up on the big screen.” Says Ron, “Movies have a special way of inspiring us at the right moment in life, and that's what makes cinema so magical."

The lunch takes place at The Pirates House, is $15 per person and includes lunch, drink, and tip. The event is open to the public.
