Rushton normally paints using acrylics on synthetic paper, and has been mostly working exclusively this way since the early 1990s when he attended the Kansas City Art Institute. "Black Celebration" is acrylic on traditional paper.
The paintings visually reflect the kind of textured ambience that Rushton's music brings to his music audience's ears.

In the summer of 2005, Rushton attended the launch of the new CafePress order fulfillment facility in Louisville, Kentucky and was very impressed with the quality of the prints being produced. Since that time, Rushton has created and expanded his online print store. By the end of 2006, Rushton hopes to have "a few hundred" images available for purchase.
The mission, as Rushton sees it, is to provide quality prints of original artworks at very affordable prices. Today's technology allows individuals and businesses to beautifully decorate spaces on the thinnest of budgets.
