WALESKA, GA – July 24, 2006 The Goshen Valley Boys Ranch announced today its first annual Goshen Valley Classic charity golf tournament to be held September 25th, 2006 at The Atlanta National Country Club, located in Alpharetta, GA. Connie and John Blend of Atlanta, Georgia established the Goshen Valley Foundation in 1997. By 1999 the Foundation had initiated and chartered the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, located on 400 acres in the Appalachian foothills of Northwest Cherokee County, Georgia. The purpose of the Ranch is to provide hope and a family-model home for boys who do not have either.
In the fall of 2002, the first residence opened for six boys. In 2004, the second residence opened for six more boys, and the Ranch's Respite House was remodeled. In 2005, the third and fourth residences opened on the Ranch, bringing a total of 24 boys to the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch.
Goshen Valley Ranch founder and chairman John Blend remarked, “The full proceeds of the tournament will help support the ranch’s funding requirements and we are excited that the event will give us the chance to highlight the cause of Georgia’s greater than 18,000 foster children to the Atlanta technology and business community.”
The first annual Goshen Valley Classic is slated for The Atlanta National Country Club on September 25th, 2006.
The scramble tournament, designed to support the participation of golfers of all skill levels, will start at 1:00 PM. The tournament will be followed by a dinner, networking and awards reception which will be held at The Atlanta National club house from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Corporate sponsorship information, golf registration, and tickets for the reception only are available on line now at www.GoshenValleyClassic.Org.
