WEYMOUTH BUSINESS LEADERS TO GET “LOCKED-UP” FOR MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATIONWEYMOUTH, MA –Prominent leaders from Weymouth are being accused of “having a big heart” for Jerry’s Kids. In an effort to raise money for MDA, they have been nominated to serve time in a V.I.P. “mock” Jail Cell at The Venetian Restaurant on July 19, 2006.
More than 50 of MDA’s most notorious “jailbirds” including Marge Santacroce of Hingham Institute for Savings, Chris DiMambro of the Main Street Bar and Grill, Arthur Drane of the US Post Office, Millie Ficarra of Fredrick C. Murphy School, Judith Haglof of Sovereign Bank, Sue Maloney of Hearth and Kettle, Kevin Muldoon of William F. Ford Co., and Mark O’Brien of Extreme Clean and a host of other notable citizens will share a jail cell every hour from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Freedom is earned once they post their bail.
“Jailbirds” will have their mug shots taken, make calls begging to be bailed out, send email pleas for freedom, and enjoy some gourmet jailhouse grub while networking with other local business members.
MDA is a non-profit organization aimed at finding the causes and cures of forty-three neuromuscular diseases including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease). Proceeds from lock-up events help to support MDA’s comprehensive network of research and local patient services including assistance in purchasing durable medical equipment, support groups, five area clinics, and a week long summer camp program for children 6-21.
MDA would like to thank The Venetian Restaurant, Public Safety Officers, and all the “jailbirds” for having big hearts. By the way, if you see one of MDA’s Most Wanted walking about….make sure to help bail them out and thank them on behalf of Jerry’s Kids.
