(Beaufort, SC) – Dr. Peter White, founder of Biopsy Diagnostics (BxDx), was honored with the Business Person of the Year award on June 29th at the 2006 “Honoring Jasper’s Finest”
Installation & Awards Banquet hosted by the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce.

At the annual awards ceremony, held at Thomas Heyward Academy in Ridgeland, South Carolina, winners were recognized for their exemplary performance and significant contributions to the community. Dr. White was the recipient of the Business Person of the Year award, which recognizes a distinguished business owner who exhibits the qualities of a model business person. Dr. White, CEO and President of Biopsy Diagnostics, was selected for this award based on the phenomenal growth and success of BxDx, his response to adversity, and his contributions to the community.

In just three years Biopsy Diagnostics has become one of the most reputable anatomic pathology labs in the Coastal Empire providing a rapid, reliable and skillful diagnosis of skin, stomach, colon, prostate, and other biopsies in a manner that demonstrates both quality and compassion. Dr. White began in 2003 by knocking on doors, meeting doctors, and introducing himself. Soon after, Biopsy Diagnostics got their first specimen in the lab. Since that time, the business has grown to be very successful. The annual rate of growth is approximately 75% over three years. Last year, gross revenues were approximately $1.2M. Since their inception three years ago, they have grown from three employees to nearly 24 employees, increasing their jobs by 300%.

Dr. White worked with a large pathology group for a number of years before deciding to open his own lab. He sought to create a lab founded on passion for the patient, efficiency, and accuracy. Bx-Dx was created based on the philosophy that, “behind each specimen waits a worried patient.” Their mission is, “the right diagnosis, right away.”

Dr. White is board certified in dermatopathology as well as anatomic and clinical pathology. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University Medical School and did his residency at Yale University, completing his fellowships at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Duke University.
