(Beaufort, SC) - Biopsy Diagnostics, PC (Bx-Dx) is celebrating their 3rd anniversary in April. Founded by Dr. Peter White in 2003, Biopsy Diagnostics has been exceeding expectations and providing a rapid, reliable and skillful diagnosis of skin, stomach, colon, prostate, and other biopsies in a manner unprecedented within its field.

Peter F. White, M.D., Medical Director at Biopsy Diagnostics is the lab’s CEO and President. Dr. White is board certified in dermatopathology as well as anatomic and clinical pathology. Dr. White graduated from Johns Hopkins University Medical School. He did his residency at Yale University and completed fellowships at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Duke University. Dr. White was recently awarded with the Civitas Award for Community Stewardship by the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce. He has also received the Circle of Caring Community Service Award for the last two years from Volunteers in Medicine (VIM), a non-profit organization which offers no cost medical services to low-income and indigent residents of Hilton Head Island. Since its inception in 2003, Biopsy Diagnostics has provided free anatomic pathology services to the patients of VIM. Dr. White has placed a high priority on quality medical care for the economically needy citizens of the Low Country.

Dr. White worked with a large pathology group for a number of years before deciding to open his own lab. He sought to create a lab founded on passion for the patient, efficiency, and accuracy. Bx-Dx was created based on the philosophy that, “behind each specimen waits a worried patient.” Their mission is, “the right diagnosis, right away.”

White’s compassion for human beings was inspired by his father who was a pediatrician in Atlanta, Georgia. His patients included Julia Roberts as well as the children of Martin Luther King, Jr. An old-fashioned doctor that embodied the principles that healthcare was originally founded upon, his father genuinely cared for his patients and frequently made house calls.

According to the Director of Pathology Outreach at Bx-Dx, Blaise Dismer, Biopsy Diagnostics puts the patient first every time. Dismer said that there are signs over each doorway to remind every member of the staff of their priority each day.

Bx-Dx serves well over 100 doctors in 3 states, the Coastal Carolina Medical Center and the Outpatient Surgery Center of Hilton Head. Due to steady increase in demand, Bx-Dx has recently expanded their physical plant. The additional space accommodates their new in-house billing operation as well as two additional pathologist’s offices.
